Saturday, September 19th 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM

Awareness Day Activity Schedule:

11:00  COOKIES / REFRESHMENTS SOCIAL
Volunteers will be on hand to provide information about dogs in rescue, how to find your perfect canine companion and why not to buy from a pet store or the internet.  Learn about the horrors secretly hidden behind most internet and puppy store dogs.  AKC registration only means the mill owner has paid a registration fee.  Nice dogs are trapped in a brutal pet trade, neglected and worse for the sake of profit.  Man’s best friend needs our help.

11:30  MILL SURVIVORS AWARD CEREMONY
A very special award will be presented to puppy mill survivors who have known first-hand the neglect or outright brutality, unsanitary conditions, forced confinement and painful ailments caused by lack of basic vet care common to puppy mill dogs.  If you have a dog who survived the horrors of a puppy mill, please let us know at registration.

11:45  I WAS ADOPTED PARADE
Celebrate the joy of saving a life by adopting rather than buying a dog.  The parade will feature wonderful dogs of all breeds who have come into rescue proving that you do NOT have to buy a dog in order to get a perfect companion.  Please bring your people/dog-friendly dog on a leash and join the parade.

12:15  DOG TALENT SHOW
Awards will be given for best parade walker and many other categories.  If you have a dog with a special talent, this will be the perfect opportunity to show the world.

ALL DOGS ATTENDING THE EVENT MUST BE DOG AND PEOPLE-FRIENDLY AND ON A LEASH.

Awareness Day Activity Schedule:

Can't get to Lancaster for this year's Awareness Day? Advocates in the Bucks, Chester and Montgomery County areas are invited to join North Penn Puppy Mill Watch for their weekly Saturday pet shop protest to help raise awareness about where pet shop puppies really come from and to encourage the public to always rescue or adopt when seeking to add a new companion animal to the family.

North Penn Puppy Mill Watch will be offering free advocacy buttons to all who attend their rally for the first time!

As always, advocates need only bring themselves as signage and good company is provided by NPPMWatch.

Awareness Day, now in its sixth year, serves to raise public awareness about the plight of the breeding dogs trapped in Pennsylvania's commercial breeding kennels that are also known as puppy mills. Hosted in Lancaster County, an area in the Commonwealth that houses the largest concentration of mills, this year's event includes an array of outstanding guest speakers including: Victoria Stilwell (from It's Me or the Dog on Animal Planet) and members of Rescue Ink (whose show will soon debut on National Geographic) along with table displays from an assortment of advocacy groups - including North Penn Puppy Mill Watch - and the famous march against mills that tours participants through Intercourse, PA.

Now regarded as the nation's largest anti-puppy mill rally, thousands are expected to gather at this year's event but if your schedule won't permit the drive to Lancaster you can be there in spirit by joining North Penn Puppy Mill Watch at their weekly event.
