Dog's Age:     7 years old
Dog's Story:     Born in a mill in Missouri he was saved from death at only several weeks. His spine was malformed so was to be killed. We took Bennie and a little shih tzu, the shih tzu is happy living in his forever home in cape cod but we discovered benie had a neurological disorder called Chiari Malformation Syringomyelia so he stayed with us. He stays with me wherever I go even to the office and gets meds round the clock. Bennie is my baby, I'm so lucky to be his mom
Gretta
Location:     Royersford, Pa
Dog's Name:     Gretta
Dog's Age:     6
Dog's Story:     Gretta came to us from a puppy mill. She didn't trust anyone. She had missing teeth from the bad puppy mill food and she was thin. Gretta came round very quickly. She loves her toys, our other dog max, and me. I'm her best friend and she is mine. But the puppy mill horrors still affect her. She gets panic attacks at night, she hates other people espcially males. And she doesn't enjoy the company of other dogs other than max. I think Gretta is an excellent rescue story.
Scout
Location:     United States
Dog's Name:     Scout
Dog's Age:     2 yrs
Dog's Story:     Scout was born to a miller in Ohio, and sold to an online broker. He was purchased by an owner and then given up 'Free' on Craigs list. When our rescue picked him up, he could not walk and had lived his life in a crate. He has a severe birth defect causing a spine deformity and pinching his brain stem and spinal column. I adopted Scout and am in love everyday with this little boy!
AngelLocation:     Delaware
Dog's Name:     Angel
Dog's Age:     11 years
Dog's Story:   Angel is a coton that was confiscated from a mill in lower MD. She was sent to a shelter but was deemed unadoptable so she was going to be put down if a rescue didn't take her. UCARE took her and I fostered her and then adopted her... I never had a bit of trouble as far as biting with her but she did and still does have the typical mill kid demons and terrors.

Willy 1
Willy 2
Willy 3
Name: Willy
Dog's Story:     Willy was rescued in October of 2010.  He was said to be only 4 years old.  The breeder is downsizing and didn't need him anymore.  He came out with the worst mouth I had ever seen, with teeth pure black and falling out on their own.  He was almost hairless and weighed only 4 pounds.  Willy is one of those sad stories, as he probably had a home at one time.  When he was released, he went into his crate for the ride home and immediately decided that the blanket in there had to be poofed up.  He dug and dug until he got it just right.  Once he was satisfied, he laid down and went to sleep, very relaxed, and ready for his new adventure.

When he was brought home, he went right into the house, got a drink, went potty on the pee pee pad, laid in a bed, and watched what was going on.  He settled in from that day and Chris and I could not let him go.

Willy was neutered, UTD on shots and rabies and lost every single tooth in his head, at 4 years old.  Willy can do stairs, loves to walk on a leash and ride in the car.  He loves people and other dogs.  He is quite the talker and will talk non stop if you let him.  Obviously, Willy has some lost time to make up for.

I feel worst for dogs like Willy.  They had a home, and to be forced to live in a cage, with no interaction with people, sleep on wire, that is a fate even worse than death I think.  Dogs that are born and raised in a mill do not know any different, as sad as this is.  Please do not put dogs on Craigslist or free adds in the paper.  They could end up like Willy or even worse.

Willy is doing great now.  Loves life.  His hair came back nicely.  He is one of the lucky ones that was granted his freedom at an early age.

VictoriaDog's Name:     Victoria
Dog's Age:     6 years
Dog's Story:    Victoria is one of our most recent rescues, arriving from a Missouri puppy mill several weeks ago. She is a very quiet, patient girl with no expectations. She is starting to approach us for kisses and is so appreciative of every little thing we do for her. This girl is as about the best dog you could meet and it's a privilege to be able to see her experience life outside of the cage for the first time.
JasmineDog's Name: Jasmine
Dog's Story: Jasmine was rescued as a 12 week old puppy.  The breeder couldn't use her or sell her because she had a umbilical hernia.  Something that could obviously be corrected when spayed, but God forbid she put any money into the poor little girl.  She was rescued and is a fun loving dog.  Luckily for her, she has no scars from the small amount of time she spent in a puppymill.

Today she is a healthy 4 year old, that has grown into a wonderful little dog.
GiselleDog's Name:     Giselle
Dog's Age:     About 9 years old
Dog's Story:     Giselle was a surrender from a back yard breeder to a horrible shelter in Delaware. She was flea infested and matted to the bone. It took me 4hrs to shave her down with a surgical blade. It was like a treasure hunt. When I saw her face it broke my heart. She is a sweet soul. She is still fighting her demons and it's sad to watch it, but she knows she has a home & she is loved, that's a relieve for me.
